TikTok Tightens Tolerance: Millions of Videos Pulled to Protect Platform Integrity
Popular short-video platform TikTok has released its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for the second quarter of 2025, covering the period from April to June. According to the report, a total of 16,245,593 videos were removed from Bangladesh, reflecting an active removal rate of 99.7 percent. Of these, 97.5 percent were taken down within 24 hours of detection.
The report indicates TikTok’s intensified efforts to “cleanse content” and rebuild its image as a responsible platform, suggesting the company is “working actively to overcome the stigma of the past.”
TikTok also received 111 government requests from Bangladesh during the quarter, concerning 1,319 pieces of content. Among them, 138 were removed for violating community guidelines, 1,062 for breaching local laws, and 119 were deactivated due to non-compliance. Additionally, five accounts were terminated for community guideline violations, and ten for breaching local laws.
Globally, TikTok removed 189,578,228 videos, accounting for roughly 0.7 percent of all uploads. Of these, 163,962,241 videos were automatically identified and deleted, while 7,457,309 videos were later reinstated after review. The platform also reported that 99.1 percent of flagged videos were detected proactively, and 94.4 percent were removed within 24 hours.
During the same quarter, TikTok removed 76,991,660 fake accounts, alongside an additional 25,904,708 accounts identified as belonging to users under the age of 13.
Among the removed videos, 30.6 perc
ent contained sensitive content violating TikTok’s content policy, 14 percent breached safety standards, and 6.1 percent violated privacy and security guidelines. Additionally, 45 percent were flagged for misinformation, while 23.8 percent were identified as edited or AI-generated content.
The report further highlights TikTok’s ongoing initiatives to build a safer digital environment for its users, emphasizing the platform’s active approach to detecting and removing content that violates its community guidelines.
