In an effort to advance technical knowledge in the application of physics in the exploration of matter, energy, life, and the cosmos, the Department of Physics at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) hosted its first-ever National Conference on Physics on June 29. The event featured oral and poster presentations alongside expert discussions.

Titled “Physics for the Future: Exploring Matter, Energy, Life, and Cosmos”, the conference was held at JUST’s Central Gallery and brought together students from JUST and various other universities across the country.

Special guest Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun, Vice Chancellor (Acting) of JUST, inaugurated the conference and remarked, “A conference is a festival for students. Here, they will gain new knowledge and shape themselves into skilled professionals. Participation in such events fosters intellectual development. I believe students will gain valuable insights into cutting-edge research and higher education in physics from the invited speakers.”

Distinguished keynote speakers included Professor Dr. Khondkar Siddique-e-Rabbani from the Department of Biomedical Physics and Technology at the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Saleh Hasan Naqib, Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University and faculty member of the Department of Physics, and Professor Dr. A.K.M. Akhter Hossain from the Department of Physics at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

Their presentations highlighted the role of physics in the future as a gateway to understanding fundamental concepts of matter, energy, life, and the universe. They emphasized that physics is not merely an academic discipline but a critical tool for future scientific discovery and innovation. Through slides, they detailed data, findings, and scopes derived from ongoing research.

Additional remarks were made by Dr. Md. Korban Ali, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and the conference convener and Chairman of the Department of Physics, Dr. Md. Masum Billah. Faculty members and students from JUST and other institutions attended the event.

The program was conducted by physics students Afia Abida Mehnaz and Tanzid Mahmud Mahin.
