Thai Embassy Warns Against Fake Hotel Booking Notices for E-Visa Applications
The Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka has warned the public about the circulation of a fake hotel booking advisory related to Thai e-visa applications on social media. In a statement issued on Sunday, June 29, the embassy urged visa applicants to rely only on official sources for accurate and updated visa information.
“It has come to our attention that a fake advisory regarding hotel bookings for Thai e-visa applications is being circulated,” the embassy noted in the statement. “We would like to clarify that this notice was not issued by the Royal Thai Embassy, Dhaka.”
However, the embassy emphasized that a genuine proof of accommodation is required for the Thai e-visa system. This must clearly state the name and full address of the hotel, the guest's name, and the duration of stay (check-in and check-out dates). The booking must be verifiable through a relevant online reservation platform or directly with the hotel. Advance payment for accommodation, however, is not mandatory.
The embassy further warned, “Applications submitted with fake documents such as forged hotel bookings, fake tickets, fraudulent bank statements, and counterfeit payment receipts will be subject to rejection.”
Thailand recently launched an e-visa (E-Visa) facility for Bangladeshi citizens, allowing applicants to apply for a visa online. Typically, the visa is issued via email within 10 working days and can be used to enter Thailand.
The application process involves visiting the official Thai E-Visa website, creating an account, filling out the application form with necessary details, uploading required documents (such as passport and photographs), and paying the visa fee online to the embassy's bank account. Once approved, the visa is delivered via email. This system enables Bangladeshi travelers to apply for a Thai visa conveniently from home.
