CUET and Petrobangla Partner for Petroleum Progress

A five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering (PME) at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) and Petrobangla, focusing on education and research collaboration.
The agreement was signed on Monday, April 28, at the boardroom of Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla). On behalf of CUET, the MoU was signed by Registrar (Additional Charge) Professor Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir, while Md. Amzad Hossain, Secretary (Senior General Manager) of Petrobangla, signed on behalf of the state-owned corporation.
Representing CUET at the signing were Professor Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem, Head of the PME Department, and Assistant Professor Md. Mizanur Rahman. From Petrobangla, Engineer Md. Rafiqul Islam, Director (Operations and Mines), and Engineer Md. Shoaib, Director (Production Sharing Contract), were also present.
To brief university authorities on the MoU, a delegation of PME faculty members led by Professor Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem paid a courtesy call on CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan on Tuesday, April 29. During the meeting, Professor Sayem elaborated on various aspects of the agreement.
Welcoming the initiative, the Vice-Chancellor stated, “Such agreements will provide students and researchers with opportunities to gain practical knowledge and will contribute to the development of skilled professionals in the country's energy and mineral sectors.”
The MoU is expected to facilitate access to vital research data, internships, field visits, and advanced technical knowledge for PME students. Moreover, it will create pathways for graduates of the department to enter professional fields more smoothly.
