Teletalk Temporarily Terminates Recharge Service on 24 June for Network Upgrade

State-owned mobile network operator Teletalk will suspend all recharge services for six hours on Tuesday, 24 June, due to scheduled mobile internet service upgrades.

The Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology announced the disruption in a press release issued on Sunday, 22 June.

According to the statement, “As part of its initiative to provide high-speed mobile internet services at affordable prices, Teletalk will suspend all types of recharge services from 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. on 24 June.”

Teletalk has offered an advance apology for any inconvenience this temporary suspension may cause.

Earlier, on 28 March, the ministry’s public relations officer Muhammad Jasim Uddin announced in a circular that Teletalk would reduce data package prices by 10 percent. That decision took effect from the Eid holiday during Ramadan.

Teletalk Bangladesh Limited, launched in 2004, is the country’s only state-owned mobile operator. It primarily caters to government employees and students, offering them tailored benefits. The operator also plays a vital role in various digital government services, especially in the education sector, where Teletalk SIMs are required for tasks such as examination applications.

Currently, the operator is implementing several projects aimed at expanding its network and enhancing digital service quality across the country.
