Broadband Boost Blueprint:
Expo Showcases Future Connectivity, AI and Triple-Play Services
Although mobile internet has dominated since the beginning of internet usage in Bangladesh, there is no alternative to fixed broadband for services such as telemedicine, e-education, and smart security. Moreover, without high-speed and stable connectivity, it is not possible to sustain artificial intelligence (AI), IoT, and digital lifestyles in building an inclusive digital society.
In this context, a three-day Broadband Expo 2026 will be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC) in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital, under the theme “Linking People, Linking Future,” aimed at bridging the country’s mass population with the future.
Organized by the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), the expo will feature national-level internet service provider companies alongside innovators, service providers, and small entrepreneurs. The fair will include seven pavilions and around 50 stalls. It is learned that the expo will officially showcase triple-play services, cable-free (overhead wire-free) broadband internet services in urban areas, and new trends in education, healthcare, commerce, and entertainment built around this connectivity.
To promote the development of the country’s broadband sector, facilitate technology exchange, and open new horizons for future digital connectivity, Information and Broadcasting Minister Jahir Uddin Swapan will inaugurate the expo on April 13.
Special guests at the inaugural ceremony will include the Prime Minister’s Adviser Rehan A. Asad, Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division Abdun Naser Khan, and Chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), Major General (Retd.) Md. Emdad Ul Bari.
At the closing ceremony on April 15, Posts, Telecommunications and ICT Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam will attend as the chief guest. Special guests on that day will include BTRC Vice Chairman Md. Abu Bakar Siddique, ICT Division Secretary Kazi Anwar Hossain, and Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam.
Speaking about the expo, ISPAB General Secretary Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan said that leading broadband and technology companies in the country will participate in the three-day expo. It will showcase new technologies, internet infrastructure, digital services, and innovative solutions. With a focus on sustainable future connectivity infrastructure, the event is expected to play a significant role in enhancing the country’s digital connectivity, building a Smart Bangladesh, and advancing a technology-driven economy. He added that the arrangement is not just an exhibition, but a comprehensive reflection of the current state, challenges, and potential of the country’s broadband industry.
He further noted that major announcements may be made on the inaugural day, including the launch of triple-play services, nationwide expansion of a pilot project for 1 Gbps connectivity in Dhanmondi, and developments in ITES services. Further details will be disclosed at a press conference scheduled for next Saturday.
