Tuesday (March 24) marks the 39th birthday of Bangladesh’s cricketer and world’s top all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. He was born on this day in 1987 in Magura district. Rising from the Alokdia field in Magura to BKSP and then dominating the Mirpur stadium, the young Faisal carved out his reign on the 22 yards. However, due to political reasons, Shakib, who has been unable to return to the country, had hoped to end his playing career on home soil.

On the occasion of his birthday, his teammates, including Mushfiqur Rahim and Rubel Hossain, shared emotional messages on social media.

Wishing Shakib a happy birthday, Mushfiqur Rahim said he, like the people of the country, hopes Shakib can retire on home soil. “Like the people of the country, I also want, as a brother, that you end your career in your homeland. Happy birthday, Shakib… Bangladesh’s Shakib. My prayers are always with you, brother,” he wrote.

Cricketer Nasir Hossain, in a post on his verified Facebook account, wrote, “Many happy returns of the day to one of the finest cricketers, Shakib Al Hasan. Your dedication, passion, and contributions to Bangladesh cricket continue to inspire millions.”

He added, “It has always been a pleasure sharing wonderful moments with you both on and off the field. I pray that this year brings you more success, happiness, and unforgettable achievements. Wishing you all the best always.”

Spinner Taijul Islam also extended his birthday wishes on his verified Facebook page, writing, “Happy birthday, legend. You are always a source of inspiration for us on the 22 yards.”

Pacer Rubel Hossain wrote on his Facebook page, “You are not just a cricketer; you are the name of an era. Happy birthday, Shakib Al Hasan.” Many others also conveyed their greetings to the Tigers’ all-rounder.

All-rounder Mosaddek Hossain Saikat wrote, “Your contributions to the game continue to inspire us. Happy birthday, Shakib bhai.” Bangladesh national team batter Imrul Kayes also posted a photo of Shakib on Facebook with the caption, “Happy birthday, dear.”

It is worth noting that since making his international debut in 2006 at the age of 19, Shakib has established his dominance in world cricket with both bat and ball. Over time, he has broken numerous records and elevated himself to a unique stature. He is also the first cricketer in history to achieve the distinction of being the number one all-rounder in all three formats of the game.
