Microsoft has introduced support for 1440p resolution game streaming for users of its Xbox consoles. The company stated that the higher bitrate streaming feature will be available exclusively to subscribers of Game Pass Ultimate, according to a report by Engadget.

Users of Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One X, and Xbox One will now be able to play their games at 1440p resolution, provided that both the game and the display support the resolution. Previously, this feature was limited to selected Fire TV devices, LG televisions, Samsung televisions, web browsers, and the Xbox PC app.

Game streaming is a key benefit of the Game Pass subscription service. Since 2025, subscribers have also been able to stream and play games they own outside the Game Pass library.

The Xbox PC app has also received new updates. A “navigation sound” feature has been added when using a controller to operate the app, making controller input more responsive and intuitive.

Additionally, formatting removable storage such as microSD cards has been simplified on Asus ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X handheld devices. Driver updates have also been introduced to improve compatibility with certain games.

It is noteworthy that significant changes have recently taken place in Microsoft’s gaming division. Following the retirement of long-time executive Phil Spencer, Asha Sharma, head of the CoreAI division, has been appointed as his successor. While opinions differ on whether Sharma’s appointment will prove positive or negative for Xbox, further changes are anticipated.
