Mobile Operators Meet Ministers to Discuss Telecom Sector Prospects

A delegation of chief executive officers of mobile operators, led by Yasir Azman, President of the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) and Chief Executive Officer of Grameenphone, paid courtesy calls on Fakir Mahbub Anam, Adviser for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology, and Rehan Asif Asad, Adviser to the Prime Minister.

Other members of the delegation included Ziad Shatara, Senior Vice President of AMTOB and Managing Director and CEO of Robi Axiata PLC; Johan Buse, Vice President of AMTOB and CEO of Banglalink; Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Zulfikar (Retd.), Secretary General of AMTOB; Taimur Rahman, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Officer (CCRAO) of Banglalink; Tanveer Mohammad, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer (CCAO) of Grameenphone; Sahed Alam, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer (CCRO) of Robi Axiata; Ahmed Asif, Head of Stakeholder Relations at Grameenphone; and Sharif Shah Jamal Raj, Director of Public Affairs and Sustainability at Robi Axiata.

According to a statement issued by the AMTOB Secretariat on Thursday, February 26, the brief meeting was held on Tuesday, February 24. During the meeting, AMTOB leaders apprised the new leadership of the overall state of the country’s telecommunications sector, its contributions to national and public development, and the existing potential within the sector.

Both sides expressed their willingness to work jointly in implementing various initiatives in alignment with the government’s objectives in the coming days.
