Eleven Students Receive Dean’s Award at Jashore University of Science and Technology

Eleven meritorious students from various departments under the Faculty of Biological Science and Technology at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) have been honored with the Dean’s Award. The award was conferred in recognition of their outstanding academic performance in the Bachelor (Honours) examinations of the 2018–19 and 2019–20 academic sessions.

The Faculty of Biological Science and Technology organized the Dean’s Award distribution ceremony on Wednesday afternoon, February 25, at the virtual classroom of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building at JUST. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, joined the event virtually as the chief guest.

Addressing the students, the Vice-Chancellor said that receiving such an award in academic life is a matter of great pride. He expressed his belief that the students would continue this success in the future. He noted that JUST is advancing significantly in research and education both nationally and globally and expressed confidence that the university would stand even taller on the world stage through the achievements of its students. He congratulated the award recipients.

The convener of the event and Dean of the Faculty of Biological Science and Technology, Professor Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam, said that the faculty has introduced the Dean’s Award for the first time to encourage and inspire students in their studies and research. He mentioned that 11 students are receiving the award this year and expressed hope that the number would increase in the future.

The recipients of the Dean’s Award include Sanjida Akter, Sumaiya Khatun, Md. Sajib Hossain Shuvo, and Saiful Islam from the Department of Microbiology (MB); Mosammat Jannatul Ferdous, Bipul Kumar Sen, Farhana Afrin Neha, and Rahima Afroze Rumpa from the Department of Fisheries and Marine Bioscience (FMB); Munni Akter and Pallab Singha from the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (GEBT); and Sadman Hossain from the Department of Pharmacy.

Among others, Professor Dr. Shirin Nigar, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology; Dr. Selina Akter, Chairman of the MB Department; Professor Dr. Md. Aminur Rahman, Chairman of the FMB Department; Professor Dr. A. M. Swaraj, Chairman of the GEBT Department; and Professor Dr. A. F. M. Shahid Ud Daula, Chairman of the Pharmacy Department, also spoke at the event.

Teachers and students from various departments of the university were present at the ceremony, which was conducted by Hasnain Anjum, Lecturer of the Department of Microbiology.
