March for Gaza: Dhaka to Witness Massive Rally Condemning Genocide in Palestine

In a powerful demonstration of solidarity with the Palestinian people, the Palestine Solidarity Movement Bangladesh has announced a mass gathering titled "March for Gaza" on Saturday, April 12, to protest the ongoing genocide being perpetrated by Israel in Gaza.

The solidarity rally will begin at 3:00 PM, stretching from Shahbagh to Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka, calling attention to the indiscriminate mass killing of civilians, including children and women, by Israeli forces—a campaign widely condemned by international observers, human rights organizations, and legal scholars as a brutal and systematic genocide.

A growing number of public figures have expressed their support for the march through video messages and social media posts. Among them are Ayman Sadiq, founder of 10 Minute School; Ratul Khan, CEO of Onnorokom EdTech; RJ Kibria; national cricket team players Mahmudullah Riyad, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nahid Rana, and Taijul Islam; Islamic scholar Mizanur Rahman Azhari; and Mahmudur Rahman, editor of the Daily Amar Desh.

University teachers, political leaders, Islamic scholars, and civil society representatives have also lent their voices to the cause. Asif Mahtab, Shaykh Ahmadullah, Mujibur Rahman Monju (Chairman, AB Party), Mawlana Mamunul Haque (Amir, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish), and Rezaul Karim Abrar (General Secretary, Olama Mashayekh Aemma Parishad) are among the many who have publicly endorsed the rally.

Videos also feature figures like Mufti Saiful Islam, Hasnat Abdullah (South Zone Organizer, NCP), Zahidul Islam (President, Islami Chhatra Shibir), and actor Tamim Mridha, calling for mass participation.

A digital campaign accompanying the announcement shared a photo card stating: “BNP Standing Committee Member Salah Uddin Ahmed will attend the March for Gaza and has called upon everyone to join.”

By Tuesday midnight, over 65,000 people had expressed interest in attending the event on Facebook, while more than 6,000 confirmed their participation.

Hasnat Abdullah, in a video post featuring 14 others, wrote: “This Saturday (April 12), the largest-ever march for Palestine will take place on the streets of Dhaka. Shahbagh to Manik Mia Avenue will echo with chants and processions.”

This march is part of a broader global wave of civil resistance and condemnation of Israel’s relentless bombing campaign and siege on Gaza, which has claimed tens of thousands of innocent lives. The organizers of the Dhaka rally aim to not only raise awareness but also to amplify the moral and humanitarian demand for an immediate end to the genocide and for global accountability.
