BTCL Boosts Bandwidth with New 'Campus-15' Internet Plan for Students

The state-owned telecommunications provider, Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL), is launching a new internet package titled ‘Campus-15’ specifically designed for university students. Priced at BDT 500 per month, the package offers 15 Mbps internet connectivity along with a free router or Optical Network Terminal (ONT) for use within university campuses and residential halls. The service will be available on a prepaid basis only.
In addition to this, BTCL is also introducing a new incentive on bandwidth, offering up to 50% additional bandwidth across various service categories. However, local connection charges will apply depending on the area. These limited-time offers will be subject to monthly charges inclusive of VAT.
For users opting for the Campus-15 internet and telephone bundle package, an additional BDT 100 will be added to the monthly charge. Telephone call charges will follow BTCL’s official tariff.
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, shared the update on Tuesday night (April 29). He stated, “A special GPON internet package and its pricing have been finalized for students residing in university dormitories and hostels. The Campus-15 package will be available for BDT 500 per month, including a free router. This will be exclusively applicable to educational institutions.”
Regarding the bandwidth incentive, BTCL will provide an additional 40–50% bandwidth as buffer/incentive depending on the customer category. Under the IIG category, customers will receive an extra 45% bandwidth in Benapole and 40% nationwide. ISP, Government/Corporate, and Education categories will each receive an additional 40%, while customers under the Data Center category will be entitled to 50% extra bandwidth.
However, no specific date has yet been announced regarding when customers will be able to start availing of the new services.
