Bangladesh Bank Launches Digital Dashboard Highlighting Women’s Financial Inclusion
Bangladesh Bank has unveiled a digital platform showcasing the state of women’s financial inclusion. The newly launched Women Financial Inclusion Data (WFID) dashboard reveals that, in the third quarter of 2025, women owned 91 percent of small and cottage economic enterprises and 37 percent of total bank deposits. Of the country’s 61,579,722 MFS accounts, women account for 43 percent of total ownership.
On Thursday, May 2, a letter signed by Saida Khanam, Assistant Director of Bangladesh Bank, stated that the bank is providing regular quarterly updates to the WFID dashboard using sex-disaggregated data obtained from financial institutions, microfinance organizations, and mobile financial services (MFS). The dashboard displays information on women’s deposits, credit, and usage of mobile financial services. With the recent inclusion of the capital market and insurance sector, the platform now offers a more comprehensive picture of women’s financial participation in the country.
The dashboard was launched in collaboration with ConsumerCentriX and Financial Alliance for Women. The inauguration took place on March 31 at Hotel InterContinental in Dhaka, officiated by Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman. Representatives from relevant ministries, financial sector regulators, banks, financial institutions, MFS providers, insurance companies, capital market intermediaries, and development partners attended the event.
