The Facebook and WhatsApp accounts used by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mozumder, Chairman of International Crimes Tribunal-1, have been hacked. Although his mobile phone was recovered from unauthorized control within a week of the incident, the compromised Facebook and WhatsApp accounts have not yet been restored, sources said.

According to reports, a malfunction appeared on Justice Golam Mortuza’s mobile phone on March 17, but he did not immediately realize the issue. In the meantime, hackers gained control of his Facebook and WhatsApp accounts. On March 22, he informed Tribunal Prosecutor and digital forensic expert Tanvir Hasan Zoha about the matter. A General Diary (GD) was filed at Shahbagh Police Station on March 24 in connection with the incident.

Subsequently, Tanvir Hasan Zoha removed remote-control software from the judge’s mobile phone. Commenting on the matter, Zoha said the judge may have inadvertently clicked on a fraudulent link or downloaded an unauthorized application, leading to the breach. While the mobile device has now been secured, the Facebook and WhatsApp accounts remain outside control.

The GD regarding the hacking stated that unknown individuals hacked the personal Facebook and WhatsApp accounts of Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder on March 18. There are concerns that the hackers may use the accounts for malicious activities. A letter has also been sent to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) seeking necessary action in this regard.
