A total of 74 flights operated by domestic and foreign airlines have been cancelled over the past three days from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital due to the closure of Middle Eastern airspace. As a result, thousands of expatriates and international passengers have fallen into extreme uncertainty and hardship.

Airport sources said that following the United States–Israel attack on Iran, flight cancellations began in phases from Saturday, 28 February, due to the closure of Middle Eastern airspace. Additional flights were cancelled up to Monday noon, 2 March. Among them, 23 flights were cancelled on Saturday, the highest number—40 flights—on Sunday, and 11 flights were suspended until Monday noon.

The list of cancelled flights includes several major domestic and international airlines. Among them, 20 flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and 10 flights of US-Bangla Airlines were cancelled. In addition, multiple flights of Emirates (United Arab Emirates), Gulf Air (Bahrain), flydubai (United Arab Emirates), and Air Arabia (United Arab Emirates) were also cancelled.

Bosra Islam, General Manager of the Public Relations Department of Biman, said that in the prevailing situation, passengers have been requested to arrive at the airport at least four hours before their scheduled departure time.
