Following the death by suicide of Afra Ibnat Ikra, wife of small-screen actor Zahir Alvi, the verified Facebook pages of actor Zahir Alvi and his colleague Iffat Ara Tithi have been disabled amid allegations of an extramarital relationship. Alvi’s verified Facebook page, which had 2.4 million followers, and Tithi’s page, which had 324,000 followers, are currently showing as disabled.

It has been reported that the action came after a strong stance taken by well-known cyber personality and cyber specialist Lal Rony.

In a post, Lal Rony wrote, “I said that if Alvi’s wife’s suicide was due to Alvi’s extramarital affair, then I will not allow Alvi to remain anywhere in the drama industry. The game has just begun; the ending will be even more terrible.”

Lal Rony also made it clear that this is not the end, stating that Tithi’s personal ID and Instagram account are also being targeted. According to him, such a situation will be created that they will remain actors in name only but will not receive work in the industry. He warned that steps would be taken to ensure that no viewers can watch their dramas or serials.

For a long time, there had been rumors in the showbiz arena that Alvi was involved in a romantic relationship with his colleague Iffat Ara Tithi. After Ikra’s death, one of her close friends claimed that Ikra had been mentally devastated due to Alvi and Tithi’s alleged extramarital relationship, which pushed her toward suicide.

A close associate of Ikra told the media, “For two to three years, Alvi denied being in a relationship with Tithi. Ikra had suspected it earlier. But Alvi would say, ‘No, we are just colleagues. There is no relationship beyond that.’ Recently, however, Alvi admitted to their relationship. And Ikra said, ‘I have no love for you. I am with you only for our son.’”

To determine the actual cause behind Ikra’s death, investigators are collecting evidence, including CCTV footage from the residence and other relevant materials. The real circumstances behind the suicide will be known once the investigation is completed.

Meanwhile, after a post-mortem examination at the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital in the capital, the body of Afra Ibnat Ikra, wife of actor Zahir Alvi, was taken to her village home in Bhaluka, Mymensingh. Following funeral prayers at 5:00 pm on 1 February, she was buried in the family graveyard. Family sources said that her husband, Zahir Alvi, was not present even at the final farewell.

It was learned that the funeral time of 5:00 pm had been set in anticipation of Alvi’s return from Nepal. However, although the burial was completed after the scheduled time, he did not attend.

Earlier, Alvi confirmed the news of his wife Ikra’s death through an emotional post on social media. He mentioned that he received the news of his wife’s death while in Nepal for a shooting assignment and that he has been mentally devastated since hearing it. He requested well-wishers and media personnel not to spread misleading information and to show sympathy toward the family during this difficult time.

In connection with Ikra’s death, her maternal uncle, Sheikh Tanvir Ahmed, filed a case at Pallabi Police Station in the capital against her husband Zahir Alvi, actress Iffat Ara Tithi, and several members of Alvi’s family. Officer-in-Charge of Pallabi Police Station, A K M Alamgir Jahan, stated that the complaint has been accepted and recorded as a regular case.
