Chief Adviser's Page Paused as Interim Era Ends
The official page of the Chief Adviser of the interim government will no longer remain active. The information was announced on Wednesday, February 18, through a post from the page itself. At the same time, gratitude was extended to everyone on behalf of the Chief Adviser of the interim government.
In a post, the page stated: “Over the past 18 months, we sincerely thank everyone for your support, interest, and participation. Your encouragement, cooperation, and constructive criticism have made our journey more meaningful and enriched.”
The note beneath the post read: “Press Wing of the Chief Adviser, on behalf of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.”
Following victory in the 13th National Parliament election, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) formed the new government on Tuesday. That afternoon, at the South Plaza of the Parliament Building, Tarique Rahman took oath as Prime Minister, resulting in the abolition of Dr. Yunus’s position as Chief Adviser.
Later, the Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification dissolving the interim government. It stated that the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, in accordance with Article 56(3) of the Constitution, appointed Member of Parliament Tarique Rahman—who commands the confidence of the majority members of the 13th National Parliament—as Prime Minister and consented to the formation of a new government under his leadership. With the formation of the new government, the Advisory Council of the interim government is deemed dissolved.
After the fall of the Bangladesh Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina during the July uprising, the interim government was formed on August 8, 2024, under the leadership of Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus. Since then, a verified page in the name of the Chief Adviser of the interim government had been active, managed by his Press Wing. The page regularly shared important decisions and information related to the interim government.
