Body-worn Cameras, Massive Security Deployment Planned for 13th National Parliamentary Election

Nearly 25,700 body-worn cameras are being distributed across approximately 43,000 polling centres for the 13th National Parliamentary Election, while around 900,000 members of law enforcement agencies will be deployed on election duty.

To closely monitor the law and order situation during the election, the Election Security App has already been fully activated. The app will be used by election officials and security personnel.

These details were disclosed by Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam at a press conference held on Saturday evening, February 8.

He said that 108,885 members of the armed forces will be deployed nationwide during the election. In addition, 37,453 members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), more than 3,000 Coast Guard personnel, and 567,866 Ansar members will begin their duties from Sunday. From the morning of February 11, 157,000 police personnel, along with a designated number of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members, will be deployed in a timely manner across all 299 constituencies.

The press secretary also informed that ballots for 422,960 postal voters have already reached Bangladesh. He noted that 94 percent of overseas voters who cast their votes by postal ballot are male.

The briefing further stated that around 400 foreign observers, approximately 50,000 domestic observers, and nearly 120 foreign journalists will be present to monitor and cover the election.
