Grameenphone Academy, Grameenphone’s free online learning platform for youth, celebrated three years of success in a festive atmosphere with a series of engaging activities. The celebration was held at a hotel in the capital, with participation from more than 450 students, senior Grameenphone officials, and representatives of partner organisations.

Highlighting the academy’s achievements over the past three years, organisers said that more than 237,000 students from over 167 institutions across the country have enrolled in Grameenphone Academy courses. Of them, 100,000 learners have successfully completed courses and received certificates. Under the Freelancing Factory programme, 50 students jointly earned USD 60,000 within a year, while two graduates went on to establish their own agencies—clear indicators of the programme’s real-world impact.

The event also showcased the launch of the “AI Mission” earlier this year under the Grameenphone Academy umbrella, aimed at training 10,000 students in artificial intelligence within six months. Within the first three months alone, more than 5,000 students successfully completed the AI courses.

Speaking at the programme, Grameenphone Chief Executive Officer Yasir Azman said the enthusiasm, creativity, and energy of Grameenphone Academy learners had deeply inspired him and reinforced optimism about Bangladesh’s digital future. He noted that building technological skills is no longer just a demand of the time, but essential for national progress and personal growth. Through Grameenphone Academy, he added, the company aims to contribute to developing a future-ready workforce by keeping young learners engaged and motivated with relevant, timely courses.

A special highlight of the celebration was a session titled “CEO x CEO”, featuring an in-depth discussion between Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman and Neil Nafis, Founder of MZ Media. Drawing on leadership experiences from different generations, they shared practical perspectives to inspire students toward leadership and innovation for long-term career development. This was followed by an interactive session with Chief Human Resources Officer Syeda Tahia Hossain and Chief Marketing Officer Farha Naz Zaman, who candidly shared insights from their corporate journeys.

As part of the celebration, a mathematical version of the Grameenphone Academy logo, created using 123 formula-based elements by an academy student, was unveiled. Students who achieved notable success across different fields were recognised, including one learner who completed the highest number of courses—26 in total. Certificates were also awarded to the winners of a tote bag design competition.

Among those present at the event were Tanvir Mohammad, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Grameenphone; Farhana Islam, Head of ESG; Farhana Hossain Shammu, Head of Grameenphone Academy; and Munir Hasan, Assistant Founder of Open Source Network and a writer and entrepreneur. Adding to the celebrations, Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology presented a sustainability-themed “trashion show” highlighting creative reuse and environmental awareness. The evening concluded on a festive note with a live musical performance by popular singer Pritom Hasan.
