CUET Observes Martyred Intellectuals Day, VC Calls for Humane and Knowledge-Based Bangladesh
Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) observed Martyred Intellectuals Day on Sunday, December 14, at 11:00 am at the university’s Academic Council Hall.
Speaking as the chief guest, CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiya said that the ideals and values of the martyred intellectuals must guide the nation in building a happy, prosperous, and humane new Bangladesh. He stressed that CUET’s responsibility as an educational institution goes beyond producing skilled engineers; rather, its core mission is to nurture ethical, patriotic, and responsible citizens.
“When people unite in defence of self-respect, change becomes inevitable,” the Vice-Chancellor said. “With this confidence, we must work towards building a discrimination-free, knowledge-based, and technology-driven nation.”
The guest speaker at the event was Professor Dr. Rabiul Alam Sarkar, Director of the Student Welfare Directorate at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET).
Additional remarks were delivered by Professor Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, on behalf of the deans; Engineer Md. Mokbul Hossain, General Secretary of the CUET Officers’ Association; Priyotosh Chakraborty, General Secretary of the Employees’ Association; and Adil Raihan, a 20th-batch student from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, speaking on behalf of the students.
The programme was moderated by Md. Fazlur Rahman, Deputy Director (Public Relations) of CUET, and Mir Mohammad Ratul Hasan, Section Officer of the Syndicate Branch. The event began with a special prayer and munajat conducted by Maulana Hamid Ullah, Imam of the CUET Staff Quarter Jame Mosque.
