Amazon Eyes Meta with ‘Jeyhawk’ AR Glasses

Amazon is developing augmented reality (AR) glasses for consumers, positioning itself in direct competition with Meta, Reuters reported citing The Information. The device, codenamed “Jeyhawk,” is expected to feature a microphone, speaker, camera, and a full-color display for one eye. The product could launch in late 2026 or early 2027.

While Amazon declined to comment, reports suggest this will be the company’s first foray into the consumer AR market, following its development of specialized glasses for delivery workers. That enterprise model will include turn-by-turn navigation support and is slated for limited release—about 100,000 units—in the second quarter of 2026.

The consumer version will be designed to be lighter and sleeker, equipped with a full-color display. It will directly compete with Meta’s upcoming AR glasses, which are expected to debut at the company’s Connect conference next week. Previously, Meta partnered with eyewear brand Ray-Ban to release AI-powered smart glasses, with its Ray-Ban Meta model launched in 2023 already surpassing one million sales.
