Committee Constituted to Consider Claims of Engineering Students
The government has formed an eight-member committee to examine the validity of the demands of BSc degree holders in the engineering profession and to make recommendations accordingly.
The information was disclosed in a notification signed on Wednesday, August 27, by Additional Secretary Md. Humayun Kabir of the Cabinet Division.
Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, has been appointed as the chairman of the committee.
The members include: Adilur Rahman Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Industries and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works; Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, Education Advisor; Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change; Engineer Mohammad Rezaul Islam, President of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB); Engineer Md. Kabir Hossain, President of the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB); Professor Dr. Engineer Tanvir Manzur, Chairman of the Bangladesh Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE); and Kazi Muhammad Mozammel Haque, Additional Secretary (SOWB) of the Ministry of Public Administration.
This committee will scrutinize the demands of BSc degree engineers and submit its recommendations to the government.
Earlier, Advisor to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Faojul Kabir Khan, told journalists at the Secretariat that a committee would be formed to resolve the engineers’ issues by reviewing the demands of BUET students.
He said, “There is an issue (movement) involving BUET, diploma engineers, and BSc engineers. Therefore, a committee is being formed; the process of forming the committee is underway. Besides myself (Advisor Faozul Kabir Khan), Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adilur Rahman Khan (Advisor to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works and the Ministry of Industries), and Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar (Advisor to the Ministry of Education) will be included. Representatives from engineering organizations will also be part of the committee.”
