The government will administer typhoid vaccines to nearly 50 million children and adolescents across the country. Those aged between nine months and under 15 years (14 years, 11 months, and 29 days) will be eligible for the vaccine. The nationwide immunization campaign will begin on September 1.

During the first 10 days, students will receive the vaccine at their respective schools. To be vaccinated at school, students must register online in advance. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, the Madrasa Education Board, and the Technical Education Board have separately issued notices instructing students to register for the vaccine.

According to the guidelines, to register for the typhoid vaccine, applicants must visit the designated website. In the web form, the date of birth—day, month, and year—must be entered first. Next, a 17-digit birth registration number must be provided in English. For those without a birth registration certificate, a parent’s mobile phone number may be used for registration. Applicants must also specify gender, then complete a CAPTCHA code to verify the provided information before proceeding.

In the next step, applicants may provide parents’ mobile numbers, email addresses, passport numbers, or current addresses, though these fields are optional. After clicking ‘Submit,’ a one-time password (OTP) will be sent to the applicant’s mobile phone. Entering the OTP will complete the preliminary registration process.

In the second phase, applicants must choose between typhoid and meningitis vaccines. Selecting the typhoid option will display two categories: students enrolled in classes up to Grade 9 (or equivalent), and non-school-going children aged between nine months and under 15 years.

For school students, the institution’s name, complete address, and current grade must be entered. After submission, details of the designated vaccination centre will appear, and the student must select the school where they wish to receive the vaccine.

Non-school-going children must select their nearest vaccination centre before submitting the form. Once submitted, a vaccine card will be generated, which must be downloaded. This card must be presented at the vaccination centre on the scheduled date.

After vaccination, the typhoid vaccine certificate will be available online. Students and parents will be able to download and keep this certificate for their records.
