Jhenaidah Cadet College has proudly raised the red and green flag on the global stage by presenting a visually appealing and pragmatic solution addressing food security, optimal use of limited resources, and sustainable waste management in space. The students’ project, Nakshatrik Abhoyaranya (Celestial Sanctuary), earned first place in the prestigious NASA-organized competition “Living in a Healthy Space” for designing an ecosystem conducive to a healthy living environment for future space habitation.

The innovative model presented by the team established a remarkable bridge between sustainable agriculture on Earth and in space, earning accolades from the judging panel for its creativity and feasibility.

The team comprised Cadet Arian Hossain Sahir, Cadet Iftekhar Mahmud Asif, Cadet Rafan Mashroor Haque, Cadet Tashrif Hasan, Cadet S. K. Ahnaf Haque, and Cadet Jisan Mahmud.

The competition saw participation from 9,028 students representing 1,641 institutions across 11 countries, competing in seven main categories and twenty-one subcategories.

According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday (30 April), the newly established robotics lab Automatos 27, sponsored by the college's alumni association JEXCA, played a pivotal role in inspiring the cadets to participate in the competition. Over the past year, the team worked with dedication on the project, showcasing their creativity and scientific reasoning, which has now earned international recognition—marking a moment of national pride.

“This outstanding achievement reflects the potential, intelligence, and global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s youth. It also serves as a source of inspiration for aspiring scientists, innovators, and space researchers,” the ISPR statement added.
