Atlas to Exclusively Supply Honda Motorcycles Again
Atlas Bangladesh Limited (ABL), a state-owned enterprise, will once again be the exclusive supplier of all models of Honda-branded motorcycles under the Direct Procurement Method (DPM). A contract to this effect was signed between ABL and Bangladesh Honda Private Limited (BHL) to further strengthen the supply chain mechanism.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday (30 April) in the conference room of Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC). As a result of the agreement, ABL will serve as the sole supplier of all Honda motorcycle models under the DPM process.
The signing ceremony was attended by BSEC Chairman M. A. Kamal Billah, Directors of Finance, Planning and Development, Commercial, and Production and Engineering, along with the BSEC Secretary and ABL Managing Director Md. Azibur Rahman, among other senior officials.
Representing BHL were Managing Director and CEO Susumu Morisawa, Chief Marketing Officer Shah Mohammad Ashekur Rahman, General Manager (Sales and Marketing) Hironori Kijima, and Senior Assistant Manager Ahmed Nafis Al Islam.
M. A. Kamal Billah stated, “Since its inception, ABL has collaborated with world-renowned Japanese brand Honda. After a brief interval, we are pleased to reconnect Honda with ABL. Through this agreement between the state-owned enterprise ABL and our commercial partner BHL, all government offices and agencies, rural electricity cooperatives under the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB), Bangladesh Police, the Village Defense Party, Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), and NGOs operating with public funds will now be able to procure Honda motorcycles under the Public Procurement Act 2008 via direct purchase. This initiative will promote local industry and conserve foreign currency.”
Susumu Morisawa remarked, “Honda is committed to delivering top-quality products at reasonable prices and spreading the joy of mobility and freedom in society. This agreement will bring mutual benefits to both parties.”
Md. Azibur Rahman commented, “Under this contract, ABL will be the sole supplier of all Honda motorcycle models through the DPM process. We will be able to meet 100 percent of the government’s demand for Honda-branded motorcycles, which will prove commercially beneficial for both companies.”
