BTRC to Hold Sixth Public Hearing on Telecom Services on November 25
Nov 25, 2025 05:52

As part of the National Integrity Strategy action plan, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is set to hold its sixth public hearing on Tuesday, November 25, at 10:00 AM. After a gap of one and a half years, telecom service users will once again get the opportunity to raise complaints and share their expectations regarding telecom service-related inconveniences.

For the second time, users will be able to join the hearing virtually. This year’s session will take place on Convay, an AI-based virtual meeting platform developed not by a foreign firm but by Bangladeshi company Synesis IT. BTRC has already shared an open-access link for public participation.

Clicking on the meeting link provided by BTRC—**https://convay.comana/750786779211575**—shows that anyone can easily join the hearing simply by entering their name. While PC users can join directly via the Convay web browser using meeting ID 7507867792115757, mobile users will need to sign in through the Convay app to participate.

According to BTRC sources, participants will be able to ask questions directly during the hearing. The session will be chaired by Emdadul Bari, and relevant officials will respond to issues raised by subscribers. They will also inform the public about new initiatives. Complaints raised by users will be documented, summarized into a report, and shared with the media. BTRC will also form a separate monitoring team to address user complaints.

Notably, BTRC has so far held five public hearings. The first was organized on November 22, 2016, at the BTRC headquarters, focusing on poor voice call quality and biometric verification issues. Subsequent hearings were held in 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2024. Participants included government, semi-government, autonomous bodies, service providers, phone users, consumer rights organizations, professionals, law enforcement agencies, mobile user associations, BTRC licensees and their associations, related officials, and the general public.
