Android Adds Auto-Restart Feature for Enhanced Security

Google has introduced a new security feature in its Android mobile operating system that automatically restarts a device if it remains locked for three consecutive days, according to a report by TechCrunch.
The update was rolled out on Monday via Google Play Services. A description of the feature, now included under the “Security and Privacy” section, states: “If your device is locked for 3 days in a row, it will automatically restart.”
Until now, this type of feature had only been available on Apple’s iOS devices. With this update, Android now offers a similar level of protection.
Experts suggest that the move will make it more difficult for law enforcement agencies to extract data from locked phones using forensic tools. When a phone restarts, it returns to a “Before First Unlock” (BFU) state, in which most data remains fully encrypted and inaccessible without the user’s passcode.
Google has not yet commented on the intent behind the feature.
