Bangladesh Debuts in Asian Sudoku Championship

Bangladesh has participated in the Asian Sudoku Championship 2025 under the supervision of the World Puzzle Federation. Four Bangladeshi students represented the country in the virtual competition, which began at 7:00 AM Bangladesh time. The results of the championship will be announced on Monday.

The Bangladeshi team comprises Susmita Hossain from Sahajpath School, Md. Azim Hossain Sakib from Abdul Kadir Molla City College, Ahmad Aidin Afnan from Manarat Dhaka International School and College, and Ayaz Tajid Tiham from SOS Hermann Gmeiner College. The Bangladesh Open Source Network’s office in Dhaka served as the venue for the team.

Speaking about his experience, Ayaz Tajid Tiham from SOS Hermann Gmeiner College said, “I am very excited. Solving many difficult Sudoku puzzles posed significant challenges. However, with more training and opportunities, we can perform even better in the future.”

Nasir Khan, the convener of the Bangladesh segment, remarked, “This is the first time Bangladesh has participated at the Asian level. Our students are learning strategies to overcome new challenges. Across seven rounds of the main competition, our team has showcased its skills impressively against other Asian countries.” He further explained that the team was formed based on performance in the qualifiers of the Bangladesh round, where participants were judged on their Sudoku-solving skills, speed, and accuracy.

The Asian Sudoku Championship began on July 18 in Chennai, India. Participating for the first time, Bangladeshi students are optimistic about their performance. Sudoku, a globally popular puzzle game enjoyed by people of all ages, is not just a source of entertainment but also a tool to improve mental fitness. For this reason, various international competitions are held worldwide, according to the organizers of the Bangladesh segment.
