Digital Governance Upgrade:
a2i Launches National Information Portal Framework 2.0
To make government information management more modern, dynamic, and secure, Aspire to Innovate (a2i) has launched the second version or Framework 2.0 of the “National Information Portal.” Implementation of this version has been rolled out in phases across all ministries starting from 21 December 2025.
Implemented under the supervision of the Cabinet Division and the Information and Communication Technology Division, the initiative currently connects around 52,000 government offices across the country. Among them, more than 35,500 websites have already been hosted on the new version. Gradually, all government websites at the directorate, division, district, upazila, and union levels are being brought under this framework.
a2i Project Director (Additional Secretary) Mohammad Abdur Rafiq stated that the functionality of the new version of the National Information Portal has been tested through performance evaluation, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing by the Software and Hardware Quality Testing and Certification Center. The organization has also formally certified the platform.
He urged all departments connected to the portal to regularly update their respective official information, adding that this new version will further strengthen the country’s digital service system. At the same time, it will reinforce transparency, accountability, and citizens’ right to access information.
a2i Senior Consultant (Deputy Secretary) Fazlul Jahid Pavel said that previously, citizens had to physically visit relevant offices to obtain information about a service, which increased both time and cost. Now, through the National Information Portal, users can access details such as office addresses, required documents, application procedures, and guidelines from home. In addition, information on tenders, job circulars, citizen charters, and budget allocations is also available.
He noted that the platform handles more than 3 billion digital interactions annually, indicating a growing trend of citizens shifting toward online access for government information and services.
He further added that the platform is not only a medium for information dissemination but also plays an effective role in implementing the Right to Information Act. It reduces public suffering while also lowering government expenditure on developing and maintaining separate websites.
According to officials, the new version incorporates a cloud- and microservices-based architecture, making the platform faster, more stable, and scalable. It also includes features such as fast search, real-time updates, and content caching. Security has been enhanced with multiple measures, including Single Sign-On, Two-Factor Authentication, and SSL encryption. Additionally, server uptime has been improved to 99 percent, ensuring more uninterrupted services and increasing user confidence.
