Future Skills Focus: CCC Mayor Stresses AI, Semiconductor Training for 4IR Readiness
Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC), has emphasized the importance of developing skilled human resources in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and the modern pharmaceutical industry to combat the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Speaking as the chief guest at an event held on Sunday, 5 April, at the Chattogram Theatre Institute Hall, he said, “To remain competitive in a technology-driven world, it is essential for our youth to acquire skills in AI, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals.”
Addressing students preparing to pursue higher education in Japan, the mayor noted that Japan is not only a hub of advanced education but also an exemplary model of discipline, innovation, and responsibility. He urged them to apply the knowledge and technological experience gained abroad to accelerate development in the country.
Highlighting the role of technology in urban management, he said there is no alternative to adopting modern technologies to make waste management smart and environmentally friendly. He added that there is significant potential to convert waste into resources such as fertilizer, electricity, and alternative energy, which would play a vital role in building smart cities.
Emphasizing language proficiency, the mayor stated that, alongside English, fluency in Japanese, Korean, and Arabic enhances competitiveness in the global job market. He revealed plans to establish technical and language training centers under CCC initiatives, with a special focus on technology-driven skill development.
The event was chaired by M M Tarikul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of Anshin Japan Consultancy. The keynote speaker was Dr. Nazim Uddin, Vice-Chancellor of East Delta University.
Special guests included Noman Ullah Bahar, President of SDG Youth Forum; Bakhtiar Hossain, Director of Well Up Technology; Shahedul Islam, Teacher at Nippon Academy; and youth organizer Jasim Uddin Chowdhury.
At the end of the program, students who obtained visas for Japan were honored with ফুল, crests, and recognitions.
