NCP Leader Nasiruddin Patwari Apologizes, Pledges Responsible Politics
Nasiruddin Patwari, a central leader of the National Citizen Party formed by students who were at the forefront of the July mass uprising, has issued an apology amid ongoing criticism in political circles. The young politician, who is contesting from the Dhaka-8 constituency in the parliamentary election, has been sharply critical of BNP candidate Mirza Abbas. Some have also blamed him in connection with his recent illness.
Facing criticism both within and outside the political arena, Patwari said, “If anyone has been hurt unintentionally by any of my words or actions, I sincerely apologize. Your prayers, love, and guidance are the strength of my journey.” He made the remarks in a Facebook post on Wednesday, 18 March.
Patwari also said that on 17 March, he began a quiet spiritual journey through Qiyamul Lail prayers at Taqwa Mosque in Dhanmondi. He prayed that Allah forgives everyone and guides them on the right path.
In the post, Nasiruddin Patwari wrote that over the past few days he had the opportunity to have sincere discussions with senior colleagues, political well-wishers, ministers, MPs, and close associates. He said he received consistent guidance from all—to avoid personal attacks, stay away from unnecessary remarks, and focus on constructive dialogue.
“I am taking this advice and will strive to move forward in a calmer and more responsible manner. I want to continue working, within my capacity, for political, economic, and cultural progress,” he added.
