Special Gulf Air Flight Arranged to Repatriate Bangladeshis Stranded in Bahrain
A special initiative has been taken to repatriate Bangladeshi expatriates stranded in Bahrain due to the ongoing war in the Middle East. A special flight operated by Bahrain’s state-owned airline Gulf Air will be arranged on 20 March for the stranded Bangladeshis. They will be able to return home via King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.
The information was disclosed on Sunday, 15 March, by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Manama. The embassy has requested interested individuals to complete registration through a Google Form by 10:00 am on 16 March.
According to sources, in coordination with the Bangladesh Embassy, a special flight from Dammam to Dhaka has been arranged through Gulf Air. Expatriates wishing to return home will be able to travel on this flight. Those interested must register through the Google link provided on the embassy’s Facebook page. However, the allocation of seats will depend entirely on the Gulf Air authorities.
The embassy said the tentative travel date is 20 March or any nearby date. The approximate fare per seat is 300 Bahraini dinars.
Passengers traveling on the flight will be allowed one checked baggage of 23 kg along with a handbag. Bus transportation from Bahrain to Dammam in Saudi Arabia and the necessary Saudi transit visa will be included in the fare. Once a passenger’s ticket is confirmed, the Gulf Air authorities will contact the traveler directly.
