BRAC Bank’s ‘Astha’ App Sees Threefold Transaction Growth
BRAC Bank’s digital banking platform ‘Astha’ recorded transactions amounting to Tk 237,000 crore in 2025. In terms of transaction volume, the app has witnessed a threefold increase over the past two years.
According to a press release sent to the media on Thursday, February 26, transactions through the app stood at Tk 73,000 crore in 2023. Within two years, that figure tripled to reach Tk 237,000 crore in 2025. During the same period, the annual number of transactions rose to nearly 50 million, which is three times higher than two years ago.
In 2025, the bank mobilized more than Tk 4,700 crore in deposits through the ‘Astha’ app. Of this amount, Tk 4,600 crore came from fixed deposits and approximately Tk 110 crore from Deposit Pension Scheme (DPS) accounts. Digital loans amounting to Tk 612 crore were disbursed, of which 40 percent were obtained entirely through a self-service process by customers.
Currently, nearly 30 percent of total service interactions are completed through self-service. Customers are able to resolve NPSB disputes, update contact information, submit service requests, and update Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) details directly through the app.
An analysis conducted by Bangladesh-based research firm OrbitX found that approximately 80 percent of 50,000 user reviews were positive. At present, more than 1.2 million customers use the ‘Astha’ app. On average, transactions worth Tk 24,000 crore are conducted monthly through the platform, accounting for more than 50 percent of the bank’s total digital transactions.
