Dhaka University Hosts Inaugural Student Research Conference
For the first time, the University of Dhaka (DU) has organised a Student Research Conference. The day-long conference was held on Thursday, January 29, at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of the university, focusing on research excellence, innovation, and the development of academic leadership.
The conference was organised by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University of Dhaka and was inaugurated by DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan. Welcoming students’ interest in research, the Vice-Chancellor said in his address as chief guest that every individual sustains themselves through their work. Institutions and society at large also benefit from quality research, he added. Emphasising the need to expand the scope of research, he stressed strengthening industry–academia collaboration across the country.
More than a hundred students from different departments of the University of Dhaka participated in the conference. The students prepared research posters and presented summaries of their research work.
The event was chaired by IQAC Director Professor Dr. Rezaul Islam. DU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Sayma Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, and Managing Director of the Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) Dr. M Abdul Aziz spoke as special guests.
