NBR Launches Digital ‘Truck Movement’ System to Track Indian Import Vehicles
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has launched a new sub-module titled ‘Truck Movement’ under the ASYCUDA World system to make the movement of cargo trucks imported from India more transparent and technology-driven.
Although the module has been introduced on a pilot basis at Benapole Customs House, NBR officials said it will soon go live at all land ports across the country.
According to NBR sources, the sub-module has been developed to electronically record the entry of Indian import-laden trucks and the return of empty trucks. The pilot operation was launched at Benapole on Monday, enabling accurate digital tracking of each truck’s arrival and departure and allowing authorities to monitor truck movement more effectively.
NBR officials said the system will help determine the duration of stay of Indian trucks, streamline data management, prevent revenue leakage, ensure transparency and accountability, strengthen border security, and generate real-time reports.
Speaking on the initiative, Md Al Amin, Public Relations Officer of the NBR, said the pilot operation of the sub-module began at Benapole Customs House on December 15. Prior to this, the arrival and departure of Indian trucks were managed through a manual process.
“With the introduction of this digital sub-module, actual arrival and departure data of each truck will be automatically recorded,” he said. “This will enable accurate tracking of truck dwell time, ensure effective monitoring, simplify information management, help prevent revenue losses, enhance transparency and accountability, and play a significant role in strengthening border security. It will also allow the generation of real-time reports.”
