The Fifth Inter-School STEM Fest 2026 was held at the campus of International Hope School Bangladesh in Uttara, Dhaka, with the participation of more than two thousand students. At the school-level science competition, students competed in five science Olympiads, with 20 winners earning the opportunity to take part in robotics competitions based in the United States and London.

Students from classes six to twelve of the country’s leading English-medium schools participated in this year’s fest. In addition to Olympiads on Science and Computing, Biochemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Programming, the event also featured a wide range of innovative science project exhibitions. A total of 142 science-based projects were showcased at the STEM Fest, with the participation of 600 students. From among the competitors, 40 students from different schools won first, second, and third prizes. Each first-prize winner received Tk 5,000, second-prize winners received Tk 3,000, and third-prize winners received Tk 2,000, along with crests and certificates.

The closing ceremony was held on Saturday, January 24, at the school auditorium, featuring captivating cultural performances. Students of the school presented group dance and musical performances, while the popular band Warfaze delivered a memorable live performance.

Earlier, it was announced at the event that International Hope School Bangladesh is connected with several renowned international Olympiad organisers from the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Europe. As part of this collaboration, 20 winners of this year’s STEM Fest will get the opportunity to participate in international competitions in the United States and the UK. Of these, 10 will be students of International Hope School Bangladesh, while the remaining 10 will be selected from winners of other participating schools.

Last year, winners of the STEM Fest travelled to the United States to take part in the NASA Rover Challenge. Over the past four years, winning students from the STEM Fest have consistently competed with students from around the world at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama. Notably, International Hope School Bangladesh has been the only institution from Bangladesh to participate in this NASA competition for four consecutive years. Through this festival, students have been able to compete with peers from some of the world’s most advanced countries in science and technology. Participants of the first STEM Fest also brought international recognition for Bangladesh by securing second place at the ‘Dubai Global Challenge’ held in Dubai. From the third STEM Fest, 10 students participated in the NASA Rover Challenge in the United States.

The event was inaugurated on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 8:30 am on the school premises. Activities continued until 5:00 pm on the holiday, while on Saturday the Olympiads, exhibitions, and cultural segments ran from 8:30 am to 8:00 pm.

Distinguished guests at the event included BRAC University Registrar David Donald, Cambridge Examination Board Bangladesh Country Director Sharwat Reza, Pearson Examination Board Bangladesh Country Director Liton Abdullah, Oxford Examination Board Bangladesh Country Director Md. Shahin Reza, and International Hope School Bangladesh Principal Roksana Zarin.

Every stall on the school grounds featured innovative projects, with students explaining their applications and future potential to visitors. This year’s exhibitions placed special emphasis on robotics and artificial intelligence-based projects. There were also innovative displays focusing on the environment, renewable energy usage, earthquakes, and related issues.

In her welcome address, International Hope School Bangladesh Principal Roksana Zarin said, “The scale of this STEM Fest and the spontaneous participation of students prove that our learners are deeply interested in science. Their engagement in scientific practice will take our country far ahead. Through such competitions, students are demonstrating their skills in science and modern technology. Over the past few years, many STEM Fest participants have taken part in international competitions such as the NASA Rover Challenge in the United States and a major international competition in Dubai, which is a significant achievement for us. We are hopeful that this year’s participants will also bring great recognition at the international level.”

It is worth noting that International Hope School Bangladesh was established in 1996 in Uttara, Dhaka. Since its inception, the school has been working relentlessly not only in academics but also in cultural, intellectual, and scientific pursuits.
