Harnessing Hidden Horizons: CUET's Call for Intellectual Property Innovation
The Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan, has emphasized the need to harness the vast potential of intellectual property in Bangladesh. He stated that it must be utilized to work with trust and reputation on the international stage. He further noted that the relationship between economic development and the encouragement of innovation and creativity is deeply intertwined. "The more we, as a nation, leverage knowledge-based innovation and creativity, the more we will advance toward prosperity," he said.
He also remarked, "The Government of Bangladesh must continue its efforts to raise awareness regarding intellectual property rights and strengthen legal measures to enforce these rights. Efforts must be made to create a more conducive environment for innovation and creativity by providing incentives for research and innovation."
Dr. Bhuiyan made these remarks on Sunday (April 27) afternoon while addressing the "Seminar on World Intellectual Property (IP) Day," organized by CUET's Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) under the slogan "Feel the Beat of IP," held at the university’s Academic Council Room.
The seminar was attended by special guests, including Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor Dr. Sudip Kumar Pal, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamsul Arefin, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Professor Dr. Kazi Afzalur Rahman, and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning Professor Dr. Muhammad Rashidul Hasan.
The keynote speaker was Professor Dr. Sajal Chandra Banik, Director of the Directorate of Research and Extension. The seminar was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman Bhuiyan, Director of CUET IQAC, and was conducted by Professor Dr. Md. Sanaul Rabbi, Additional Director of IQAC.
