Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a set of strict and technology-driven measures to eliminate extortion, starting from the road and transport sector and extending to the land and real estate sectors. The party stated that if it gets the opportunity to form a government, it will introduce a special app and website named “Digital Paharadar” to receive and resolve extortion-related complaints, alongside direct surveillance through CCTV cameras. In total, the party has outlined 13 specific commitments aimed at curbing extortion nationwide.

The pledges were made public through five photo cards published on Jamaat-e-Islami’s verified Facebook page on Friday evening, January 23. According to the party, by ensuring the use of modern technology, strict enforcement of laws, and active public participation, Bangladesh can be transformed into a completely extortion-free country.

Announcing the launch of the “Digital Paharadar” app and website for receiving and resolving complaints, Jamaat-e-Islami said that complaints will be verified and a report prepared within 24 hours of submission. At the same time, the safety and security of complainants will be ensured.

The party further stated that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is committed to turning the country into an extortion-free state. If, by the will of Allah and through the votes of the people, it is given the opportunity to form a government, extortion will be eradicated from all sectors through the application of modern technology and strict legal measures.

According to the declaration, to stop extortion in the road and transport sector, CCTV-based monitoring will be introduced on extortion-prone roads, along with enhanced direct surveillance at all outposts and checkpoints. Immediate investigations and punitive actions will be taken as soon as any complaint is received. The party also pledged to establish an independent, politically neutral monitoring cell for this sector and to undertake public awareness programmes to prevent extortion.

To curb extortion in the land and real estate sectors, Jamaat-e-Islami announced plans to introduce online payment systems for fees and taxes. In addition, all necessary documents, including land records, will be made accessible online to prevent extortion during land transactions. The party also said that swift legal action will be taken if any extortion-related complaints arise during land dealings.

The declaration further stated that the identities of extortionists will be publicly disclosed and exemplary punishments will be ensured. Through visible legal actions and exemplary penalties, the party aims to create public awareness and set strong precedents against extortionists.
