As in previous years, the 54th Victory Day saw social media platforms awash in red and green from the very start of the day. Alongside iconic images from the Liberation War, netizens shared messages of hope, resolve, and collective aspiration, with timelines and profiles overflowing with the spirit of victory.

A significant portion of this year’s Victory Day online discourse centered on Sharif Osman Hadi, convener of the Inqilab Mancha. A poem and a song dedicated to him—written by young poet Zia Haque—struck a powerful chord with netizens and quickly went viral across multiple platforms. Zia Haque’s poem “Guli-Tuli Hadider Chultao Chhere Na” amassed more than 8 million views, while the song “Hadi Tui Firey Aay” crossed over 600,000 views on 16 December alone.

Within just two days, the poem generated over 8 million views from only five Facebook profiles. At the same time, the revolutionary song performed by artist Abu Ubaida drew nearly 600,000 views in a single day on YouTube. Among the most-viewed accounts, Osman Gani’s profile recorded 3.9 million views, while Mahiyuddin’s reached 1.9 million.

The momentum extended beyond Facebook, with Instagram and TikTok also witnessing a surge of engagement around the poem and the song. Preliminary figures indicate that on Victory Day alone, the poem crossed the 10-million-view milestone, an exceptional feat for poetry-driven content in the digital age.

Reflecting on the response, poet Zia Haque said that in what he termed an “era indifferent to poetry,” such an overwhelming reception was unimaginable. He added that he had received thousands of emotional messages over the past two days, with many expressing a collective hope for Sharif Osman Hadi’s safe and healthy return.

Meanwhile, artist Abu Ubaida announced that all revenue generated from his YouTube channel over the next month would be donated to Hadi’s family as a gesture of solidarity.
