Celebrating Courage: Uplifting Victory Day at Jashore University of Science and Technology
Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) celebrated Victory Day 2025 with a full day of events, combining patriotic observances, sports, cultural activities, and prayers.
The day began at sunrise on Tuesday, 16 December, with the hoisting of the national and university flags in front of the administrative building. A mini-marathon involving faculty, students, and staff marked the start of the day’s sporting activities.
At 9:30 AM, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, accompanied by members of the university community, laid wreaths at the Monihar Victory Monument in Jashore city. Following this, a painting competition for students from kindergarten to grade five was held at the university TSC. Throughout the day, various sports competitions—including volleyball, races, rooster fighting, and pillow fight games—saw participation from faculty, students, and staff.
At noon, the Director of Physical Education, Professor Dr. Md. Shahedur Rahman, presided over an awards ceremony organized by the Physical Education Department. Prizes were distributed for inter-hall handball (boys and girls), inter-hall basketball (boys), inter-department cricket (girls), inter-department volleyball (boys and girls), chess (boys and girls), carrom (boys and girls), badminton (boys and girls), athletics (boys and girls), rope skipping, and other competitions. The awards were handed out by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid.
After Zuhr prayers, a special supplication and Milad Mahfil were conducted at the central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the martyrs of Bangladesh’s Liberation War, the well-being of freedom fighters and war-affected veterans, and the peace, prosperity, and progress of the nation. The ceremony was led by the senior Pesh Imam of the university central mosque, Maulana Md. Akramul Islam. University officials, including Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun, deans, department heads, faculty, staff, and students participated in the observances.
At the Jhenaidah Victory Monument, faculty, students, and staff of JUST’s Jhenaidah campus also laid wreaths, while various traditional sports competitions were organized throughout the day. Additionally, high-quality meals were served to students across all residential halls.
