Ahead of the holy festival of Eid al-Fitr, a special “Eid Market” has been organized for more than 1,000 underprivileged and children with disabilities across 13 districts of the country. Through this initiative, the children were given the opportunity to choose their own Eid clothing according to their personal preferences.

The “Guardian Eid Market” was organized by Guardian Life Insurance Limited with the support of Bangladesh Youth Organization (BYO) Development Foundation. Children from Kurigram, Gazipur, Mymensingh, Bhola, Bogura, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Cumilla, Dhaka, Rangpur, Gaibandha, Barishal, and Tangail participated in the event.

The initiative created a unique experience for the children, allowing them to browse various clothing items and personally select their Eid outfits based on their preferred colors and designs. According to the organizers, the programme not only brings joy to the children but also helps boost their confidence.

For 12-year-old speech and hearing-impaired student Keya of Kurigram Special School, this year’s Eid has become particularly memorable. Due to the limited financial capacity of her father, a van driver, she had been uncertain about obtaining her preferred clothing. However, through this initiative, she was able to select an outfit of her choice and expressed great happiness through sign language, conveyed by the school’s head teacher.

Ditipriya Roy Chowdhury, Senior Assistant Vice President of Guardian Life Insurance Limited, said, “When a child gets the opportunity to choose something according to their own preference, it not only brings joy but also strengthens their confidence. We are delighted to be associated with such a humanitarian initiative.”

Meanwhile, Jihad Akand, Founder and Executive Director of Bangladesh Youth Organization (BYO) Development Foundation, stated that through the organization’s initiative and with the support of Guardian Life, around 1,000 children across various districts of the country have received Eid clothing of their choice. He added that the programme is being carried out on a continuous basis.
