Once limited to letters and mail, the postal service in Bangladesh is now playing a vital role in building a Digital Bangladesh—facilitating online parcel delivery, e-commerce logistics, postal banking, and service accessibility. In this context, Bangladesh will join the global celebration of World Post Day on October 9, with a two-day program scheduled to take place at the Dak Bhaban in Dhaka, organized by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.

This year’s theme for World Post Day is: "Post for People: Local Service, Global Reach." The day is observed worldwide to highlight the importance of postal services, their connection between people and governments, and their contribution to sustainable development.

In advance of the celebration, a press conference will be held on October 8 at 4:00 PM at Dak Bhaban, Agargaon, where Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, will share details of the program.

According to sources, the celebrations will begin on October 9 at 8:00 AM with a colorful rally, starting from the Dak Bhaban premises and parading through nearby major roads.

At 10:00 AM, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb will formally inaugurate the two-day event at Dak Bhaban. The inaugural session will be attended by Abdun Naser Khan, Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division, Shish Haider Chowdhury, Secretary of the ICT Division, along with other senior ministry officials, postal department employees, students, and members of the media.

Later in the day, at 3:30 PM, a seminar titled “The Post in Future Thinking” will be held, where experts will discuss the digital transformation and future roadmap of postal services in Bangladesh.

On October 10, the final day of the celebration, a drawing and quiz competition will be held at 10:00 AM with participation from students.

The program will conclude in the afternoon with a closing and prize distribution ceremony, where Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, will attend as Chief Guest.
