Shohoz vs. ShohozCash: Statement Sparks Clarification Amid Confusion
Online ticketing platform Shohoz has issued a formal clarification stating that it has no affiliation or connection whatsoever with ShohozCash, a recently promoted mobile financial service (MFS). The clarification follows a wave of public confusion and discussion triggered by news reports and a subsequent notice from Bangladesh Bank.
On Tuesday, September 7, Shohoz addressed the issue, explaining that the confusion stemmed from an advertisement published in a national daily by ShohozCash, which announced the launch of a new mobile financial service under that name. Many mistakenly associated the new MFS brand with the trusted ticketing platform Shohoz, despite the clear difference in spelling and branding.
Bangladesh Bank responded promptly by issuing an official statement cautioning the public. The central bank clarified that ShohozCash has neither sought nor received any approval to operate MFS services in Bangladesh. It urged citizens to refrain from engaging in financial transactions with the unlicensed entity.
Welcoming the swift action taken by Bangladesh Bank, Shohoz said it helped protect public interest and quickly dispelled misinformation.
Colonel Md. Aminul Haque (Retd.), BGBM, PPM(S), Chief Human Resources and Admin Officer of Shohoz, stated, “Shohoz has always stood for transparency and trust. We want to reassure our users and partners that there is absolutely no connection between Shohoz and any entity named ShohozCash. We remain committed to serving our customers with honesty and compliance. Imitating an established and trusted brand is never a good practice—it only creates confusion and unnecessary complications.”
Shohoz also expressed gratitude to its users, partners, and the media, urging everyone to rely solely on the company's official platforms for accurate and verified information.
