Air Force Unveils Indigenous ATC Tower Digital Simulator

A fully indigenous Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower Digital Simulator, developed by the School of Air Traffic Services, was officially inaugurated at the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) Base Bashar on Wednesday, July 16. The Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, attended the ceremony as the chief guest and formally launched the simulator.

According to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR), the Air Chief commended the Research and Development Project undertaken by the School of Air Traffic Services as a remarkable achievement in the Air Force’s journey toward technological self-reliance. He was also briefed on the features and capabilities of the simulator and observed a live demonstration during the event.

The digital simulator has been developed to enhance the training efficiency of air traffic controllers and tower assistants. It is expected to significantly contribute to reducing foreign dependency, fostering indigenous technological development within the Bangladesh Air Force, and increasing operational competence.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Principal Staff Officers of the Air Headquarters, the Vice-Chancellor of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University, the Air Officer Commanding of BAF Base Bashar, the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, and other senior officials of the Air Force.
