BTEB Mandates Mandatory Optional Subjects for Vocational SSC and Dakhil Students

The Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) has made it compulsory for vocational SSC (Secondary School Certificate) and Dakhil (Vocational) students in Class 10 to add an optional subject to their curriculum. Students who enrolled in Class 9 in the 2024 academic year and are currently in Class 10 will not be allowed to sit for the board examination in the optional subject if it is not included in their registration card.
BTEB issued a strict directive, stating that the subject addition process must be completed by July 3, failing which the subject will not appear on the admit card, and students will be barred from taking the exam.
A revised notice, signed by BTEB’s Director of Curriculum and ICT and Examination Controller Md. Ali Masud Karim, clarified that students will not be permitted to sit for the exam if the optional subject is missing from their admit cards. The notice emphasized that the heads of respective institutions will bear full responsibility for any complications arising from non-compliance.
To complete the subject addition process, institution heads must log in to BTEB’s e-service platform (btebesheba.gov.bd) between June 22 and July 3 and use the ‘Optional Subject Add’ menu. The deadline must be strictly adhered to.
For SSC (Vocational) students, the optional subjects include Advanced Mathematics-2 (Subject Code: 51321), Agricultural Studies-2 (51322), Biology-2 (51323), and Basic Trade-2 (51324). Meanwhile, Dakhil (Vocational) students can choose from Advanced Mathematics-2 (51321), Agricultural Studies-2 (51322), Biology-2 (51323), Islamic History-2 (51325), and Bangladesh and Global Studies-2 (51326). Students must select one subject from the list, which will then be reflected in their registration cards and admit cards.
The notice labeled the matter as "extremely urgent" and warned that no leniency would be shown if institutions fail to add the optional subjects within the stipulated timeframe. The responsibility will solely lie with the respective institution heads, BTEB clarified.
