Fake Profiles, False Claims: Dr. Jahangir Kabir Faces Facebook Fraud Frustration
Numerous Facebook pages bearing the name of Dr. Jahangir Kabir have surfaced online, many of them deceptively using the profile picture of his verified account to appear authentic. These fake pages are reportedly promoting various legitimate and illegitimate medicines by imitating Dr. Kabir’s voice. Shockingly, some even advertise sexual enhancement products—leaving the renowned physician in an embarrassing and concerning situation.
Recently, a legal notice was issued against Dr. Jahangir Kabir and Dr. Tasnim Jara by a lawyer alleging the spread of obscenity. However, upon realizing the misrepresentation, the lawyer withdrew the notice before it could be formally served. Although Dr. Kabir clarified his stance in public, his original and verified Facebook page was subsequently taken down by the platform’s authorities.
Dr. Kabir expressed his frustration during a press conference held at his office on Wednesday, April 30. Speaking to journalists, he highlighted the misuse of his identity and the damage caused by fraudulent online activities. He also engaged in brief conversations with a few patients present at the time.
One patient, Minhaj from Chattogram, said he had been under Dr. Kabir’s care for three days for high blood pressure. "My pressure has come under control without medication," he said. Abdul Gafur Sarkar shared his experience, stating, "I came here with excess weight. I was advised to follow certain rules and dietary changes. On the first day, my weight was 62 kg, and after two days of following the regimen, I lost 2 kg, though I hadn’t changed my diet yet. I will start that from today."
Earlier in the briefing, Dr. Kabir stated, “A dishonest network is using my name to operate countless pages and sell illegal drugs. With my verified page now shut down, I cannot even warn the public properly. Still, I’ve issued cautions through my personal Facebook ID and YouTube channel and filed a general diary (GD) with the police. I urge people not to fall victim to these scams. I do not sell any medicine. My core message is promoting drug-free wellness.”
“Our lifestyle approach includes healthy eating, fasting, mental peace, and good sleep,” he added. “Many people assume we are anti-medicine. That is not true. We want people to have an option—to find ways to live without medication where possible. By following our lifestyle model, people can manage or even recover from 60 to 70 diseases. All medical services here are provided free of charge. Only diagnostic tests and food products must be purchased. We emphasize that 'food is medicine'—but it must be chemical-free.”
Following the press briefing, Dr. Kabir took journalists on a tour of his facility, including the lab, doctors’ and nutritionists’ chambers, gymnasium, food arena, and outlets for super and functional food. Nearly 450 people are employed across his organization.
