Bangladesh’s Insignia Team Wins International Recognition for AI and Robotics Research

Bangladesh’s Insignia Team has received international recognition for its research in robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI). In acknowledgment of their contributions, the team was awarded a cash prize of 6,000 Saudi Riyals.
The team members include Misbah Uddin Inan and Abrar Shahid from Notre Dame College, Arefin Anwar from St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, and Rafid Ahmed from Academia English Medium School. Their research was supervised by Professor B. M. Mainul Hossain from the Institute of Information Technology, University of Dhaka.
The team received this honor as the youngest research group at the Global Students Research Conference 2025, held at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia. The event, taking place from February 4-6 for the first time, concluded on Thursday with representatives from Aramco Digital presenting the team with a symbolic cheque.
All members of the award-winning team are eleventh-grade students. Notably, the same students previously won two silver and two bronze medals for Bangladesh at the International AI Olympiad last year.
Out of approximately 1,500 research submissions from 25 countries, 300 projects were shortlisted in the preliminary stage. The final selection comprised six awards across six categories. The team’s research was recognized in the Smart Systems, Robotics, Automation, and AI category.
The conference aims to foster student-led innovation and collaboration in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and business, inspiring future leaders and innovators worldwide.
