Revised ATM and Online Transaction Fees Announced

Customers withdrawing cash from another bank’s ATM will now have to pay a maximum of Tk 30 per transaction (including VAT), effective from February 20. Previously, this fee was Tk 15. However, the card-issuing bank will pay Tk 15 to the ATM-operating bank.
On Thursday, February 6, the Payment Systems Department of Bangladesh Bank issued a directive to the top executives of banks regarding these revised charges.
According to the new directive, the first five transactions (up to Tk 20,000 or a lower amount as per the customer’s preference) will incur a charge of Tk 15 (including VAT) per transaction. Any subsequent transactions will be charged Tk 30 (including VAT) per transaction. Additionally, under the National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB), a customer can withdraw up to Tk 200,000 per month.
Internet Banking Fund Transfer
Under NPSB, when a customer transfers funds from one bank to another via internet banking, a maximum service charge of Tk 10 (including VAT) per transaction will apply, which the originating bank can collect from the customer.
Online Tax Payments and Government Services
To encourage taxpayers and facilitate online tax payments, the applicable fees for tax payments through the e-return system using card payments, internet banking, mobile financial services (MFS), and payment service provider (PSP) wallets are as follows:
MFS/PSP Wallet Transactions
For each transaction, a fee of 1% or a maximum of Tk 30 (including VAT), whichever is lower, will apply. The new charges will take effect on February 20, 2025.
- Account statement and balance inquiry: Additional Tk 5 (including VAT).
- Mini statement: Tk 5 (including VAT).
- Fund transfer: Tk 10 (including VAT).
- Issuing bank or institution will pay a maximum service charge of Tk 20 (including VAT) to the acquiring bank per transaction, which can be collected from the customer.
Under NPSB, transferring funds from one bank to another online will incur a maximum service charge of Tk 10 (including VAT) per transaction.
For transactions using Bangladesh-issued cards and internet banking:
- Up to Tk 25,000: A maximum charge of Tk 20 (including VAT) per transaction.
- Above Tk 25,000: A maximum charge of Tk 50 (including VAT) per transaction.
Additionally:
a) Customers will be charged a maximum of Tk 20 (including VAT) per transaction for payments up to Tk 25,000 using Bangladesh-issued cards and internet banking. For transactions exceeding Tk 25,000, a maximum charge of Tk 50 (including VAT) will apply.
b) Transactions made via MFS/PSP wallets will incur a 1% fee or a maximum of Tk 30 (including VAT), whichever is lower.
c) No chargeback will be applicable for these transactions.
For transactions under MCC-9399 using Bangladesh-issued cards:
- Payments up to Tk 25,000 will incur a maximum charge of Tk 20 (including VAT) per transaction, of which Tk 5 (including VAT) will be paid to the card-issuing bank or institution.
- For transactions exceeding Tk 25,000, the prevailing fees and charges of the respective banks or institutions will apply.
The directive will take effect from February 20, 2025.
