The “6th Young Scientist Congress 2026” is set to be held in Dhaka to strengthen the engagement of young scientists in building an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven future. The theme of the congress has been set as “Young Scientists for Artificial Intelligence.” The event will take place on 4 and 5 April at the National Science and Technology Complex in the capital’s Agargaon area.

The congress is being organized at the invitation of Professor Dr. Zohurul Karim, President of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences. Major General (Retd.) Professor Dr. ASM Matiur Rahman is serving as Chairman of the organizing committee, while Professor Dr. Liaquat Ali is acting as the Organizing Secretary.

According to the organizers, registration for participation will remain open until 25 March, while abstracts must be submitted by 23 March. The participation fee has been set at Tk 2,000 for general participants and Tk 1,000 for students. Participants will have access to scientific sessions, publications, hospitality, and other facilities.

Organized by the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, the congress has already attracted confirmed participation from both local and international researchers and scientists.

Organizers noted that artificial intelligence has recently reached unprecedented levels of advancement, evolving from rule-based technologies to generative capabilities that play a crucial role in creating new knowledge and content. AI is already transforming various sectors by increasing productivity, automating repetitive tasks, and reducing human error. However, challenges such as algorithmic bias, data privacy concerns, impacts on employment, and potential misuse of technology have also emerged—issues that will be addressed through discussions at the congress.

It is learned that, considering Bangladesh’s current demographic reality, the congress aims to engage the country’s youth—viewed as a driving force of development—with modern science, technology, and innovation. Senior scientists and experts from home and abroad will participate, exchanging knowledge and experience with young researchers. In addition to invited lectures, the congress will offer opportunities for oral and poster presentations, enabling researchers to showcase their original work.

The theme lecture will be delivered by Dr. Ehsan Hoque of the University of Rochester. Plenary sessions will feature speeches by Professor Hasan Sarwar of the United International University, Dr. Mohammad Ali Moni of Charles Sturt University, and Dr. Tanzima Hashem of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

Additionally, sessions will include participation from Professor M Shamim Kaiser of Jahangirnagar University and Dr. Md. Rakib Hasan of Bangladesh Agricultural University, along with many other national and international researchers. Discussions will cover AI applications in healthcare, agriculture, environment, nano-biotechnology, and language technology.

The congress will encompass diverse research fields, including physical, chemical, and environmental sciences; agriculture and biological sciences; mathematics; engineering and computer science; as well as health and pharmaceutical sciences. Special symposia will also be organized focusing on AI applications and challenges in the context of Bangladesh, including industrial use of AI and publication ethics.

Overall, in an era of rapidly evolving technologies like artificial intelligence, the congress is being viewed as an important platform for enhancing the skills of young researchers in Bangladesh, fostering innovative thinking, and linking research with practical applications.
