Nagad to Deliver Shahjalal Islami Bank Remittances Directly to Mobile Wallets

From now on, remittances sent from abroad on behalf of Shahjalal Islami Bank will be delivered directly to beneficiaries’ mobile wallets through Nagad. To this end, the capital market–listed Shahjalal Islami Bank signed an agreement with Nagad on Sunday, January 25, at the bank’s corporate head office in Gulshan, Dhaka.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Shahjalal Islami Bank by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, while Nagad was represented by its Administrator Md. Motasim Billah.

Under the agreement, expatriates will be able to send money through international exchange houses, money transfer operators (MTOs), or banks. Beneficiaries will be able to receive and use the remitted funds 24 hours a day from anywhere in the country, including remote areas.

At the signing ceremony, Shahjalal Islami Bank was represented by Additional Managing Director Imtiaz Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director M. M. Saiful Islam, Deputy Managing Director and CFO Md. Jafar Sadeq FCA, CTO and Head of the IT Division Khandaker Bedoura Mahbub, and Head of the Foreign Remittance Division Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain.

From Nagad’s side, those present included Associate Administrator Anwar Ullah, Chief Commercial Officer Mohammad Shaheen Sarwar Bhuiyan, Head of the Remittance Division Md. Ahsanul Haque Bashar, Senior Manager of the Remittance Division Shah Imran, Manager Ifrat Jahan, and Remittance Specialist Md. Afsan Joni Tahrim.

Speaking at the event, Shahjalal Islami Bank Managing Director Mosleh Uddin Ahmed said, “The bank collects remittances through an extensive partner network across different countries. Through this agreement with Nagad, expatriates and their families will receive fast, easy, and Shariah-compliant remittance services.”

Nagad Administrator Md. Motasim Billah said, “As a result of this agreement, money sent by expatriates will reach Nagad wallets directly. Beneficiaries will be able to withdraw cash easily from more than 200,000 Nagad entrepreneur points across the country. This initiative will make the country’s remittance system more modern and efficient.”
